White Fillings (Bondings)
Teeth can gradually darken as a result of drinking coffee, tea and red wine. Smoking and aging often cause darkening as well. Whitening your teeth is a safe, inexpensive way to reverse this process. By using custom-fit trays that you wear at home for a few hours a day, your teeth will get whiter and stay whiter. Whitening only works on natural teeth and will not change the shade of crowns, veneers or white fillings.
Dentures and Partials
Dentures are removable replacements for missing teeth. If you are replacing a few teeth, you should consider a partial denture. Partials and dentures may be placed at the time of a tooth extraction if so desired. This immediate partial/denture will require a reline after healing has occurred.
Extractions are sometimes necessary to remove hopeless teeth. Dr. Golding does most extractions in the office.
Root canal therapy is the process of removing nerve tissue from inside the tooth. There are many reasons that a tooth may need a root canal. These include, but are not limited to, deep tooth decay that extends into the nerve, cracked teeth, trauma to a tooth or infection inside the tooth. Some of the signs that may indicate the need for a root canal include lingering pain when exposed to hot or cold foods, pain upon biting, a raised pimple on the gum by the tooth and spontaneous pain that may keep you up at night. To preserve the strength of the tooth, it is recommended that a crown be placed after completion of a root canal.
Regular dental cleanings are essential to maintaining healthy gums and teeth. A dental cleaning and checkup should be done twice yearly. Neglecting your checkups can lead to periodontis, also known as gum disease.
